I've tried budgeting before. It hasn't been a horrible thing in the past but it hasn't been the greatest thing either. I think that I was budgeting the wrong way though. To go through this process I have decided to budget my money. I found an excellent budget sheet on my church's website. I'm going to post a copy of it here in my blog. This budget sheet is very simple yet it covers the basics. I have liked it so much that I also adapted it to my business and I'm budgeting there too. I have to say that it is because I've been budgeting that I was able to save money and pay my bills in January.
The difficult part of this process is that I budgeted all of the money I made last month so there is nothing left in my account to pay for the bills I have coming up this week. I have money in my savings but I don't want to use it to cover this weeks bills. My wife and I won't receive any money until Friday. I might have to use the money in savings to cover the bills and then replace the money in savings when we get paid. I don't want to do that because I don't want to think that is an okay thing to do and make a habit of doing it. I will really have to think about how to pay the bills without touching the savings.
